Ely Gordeeva and Gordei at their home in Ubud, Bali
Please tell us something more about your background.
Ely: We are from Russia. I’m from Kazan while my husband Gordei is from Khabarovsk. I took up Architecture but I ended up practicing it along with interior, graphic and fashion design. We decided to live in Bali because of the nice weather all year long, a lot of vegetarian cafes and yoga. We love to travel, so we try to spend six months in different countries. But for now Bali is our home.
Ely, how did you and Gordei initially meet?
Gordy was my favourite illustrator and I’ve been a huge fan of his art for years. One day I saw on his Facebook page that he is in Thailand, and that time I packed my bags to go there.
